Feeding Group

Small group that works on feeding, communication and social skills in a fun group setting.

Ages:

All ages are welcome - we do our best to put similar age groups (and skill sets) together when forming the groups.

Location:

Location set collectively by group participants caregivers - often in a public space (e.g., park, community center). Throughout Simcoe, Georgian Bay Township, and Muskoka regions.

Benefits:

Develop accepted food amounts, oral motor skills and work on sensory profile components to improve mealtimes.  Simultaneously work with a speech-pathologist to develop communication, regulation, and interpersonal skills.

What to Expect:

A fun therapy hybrid, which will develop your child's skills in a fun and meaningful way. Join our waitlist, provide some information on your child to help form the appropriate groups, and we will contact you as soon as a group is formed to discuss logistics further.

FAQs:

What about payment?

Payment arranged in advance - after group is formed and after dates and locations are set. E-transfer, cash, credit card via Paypal or stripe are all available.

How many sessions?

This is flexible, and is agreed upon when groups are formed. Typically there are 5-10 sessions arranged.

What day / times are available?

This is also flexible, with what works best with group members. Weekday evenings, and Saturday mornings are what is generally offered.

What if my child uses AAC?

A speech-pathologist is running the sessions and will support any form of AAC with all group members to keep things inclusive.

What if my child has aggression toward others? 

Safety of others is a high priority, but these children are just as important to include in group and regulating fun. This is the information that is important to communicate before the group forms. We will keep the group size small, and work together throughout the sessions to reduce (if not eliminate) these behaviours. The speech-pathologist running the groups has over 10 years experience working on regulating children, promoting their communication, and reducing / eliminating harmful behaviours. The speech-pathologist is also a trained in CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)  to navigate and reduce behaviour risk.​​
